Returning Student Registration
Online Registration is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
(NOTE: myGateway may be periodically unavailable during system upgrades or hardware maintenance)
Welcome back to Fullerton College! We’re excited to have our returning students join us once again, and we look forward to supporting you on your continued academic journey. Here are some key steps and tips to help you get started on the right foot:
1. Complete Enrollment Steps +
Apply: Ensure you have completed your online application to Fullerton College.
Financial Aid: Apply for financial aid through FAFSA or California Dream Act if applicable.
Assessment: Complete any required assessments or placement tests.
Orientation: Complete the student online orientation to get familiar with the campus and its resources. Visit Online Orientation for video instructions on how to complete the online orientation.
2. Clear any holds on your account +
Prior to registering for classes, you may have to clear previous fees and holds (dismissal, and/or library holds) — you can check your account for holds online via myGateway.
Dismissal Hold: A student who has been dismissed because of either poor academic achievement or poor progress may be considered for readmission on a conditional basis. The student must file a Petition for Readmission with the Admissions and Records Office. After the petition is reviewed by the Academic Standards Committee, the student will be notified by email.
Unpaid Balance Hold: An Unpaid Balance Hold, aka UB Hold, is placed on a student’s myGateway account if they owe more than $100 in fees. The UB Hold prevents students from dropping or adding a class. For students who owe less than $100, the district will not place a hold, and the student may move forward with adding and dropping classes as usual. Visit myGateway to view and pay your balance to remove this hold.
3. Register for Classes +
Meet with a Counselor: Schedule an appointment with a counselor to create an educational plan and select appropriate classes.
Register Early: Classes can fill up quickly, so register as soon as you are able. Your registration date will be assigned roughly a month before the term starts. To view your registration date, simply login to myGateway and navigate to Tools > Registration > Registration Appointment. Fullerton College uses College Scheduler for registration and it generates a variety of daily schedules to fit your needs based on criteria you input, such as campus location, desired courses, and work breaks.
You can visit how to register for a step-by-step guide to adding your desired courses.
4. Get Your Student ID and Parking Permit +
Student ID: Obtain your student ID card, which you’ll need for various campus services.
Parking Permit: Purchase a parking permit if you plan to drive to campus.
5. Purchase Books and Supplies +
Textbooks: Buy or rent textbooks early, either from the campus bookstore or online.
Supplies: Gather necessary school supplies such as notebooks, pens, and a backpack.
6. Familiarize Yourself with the Campus +
Campus Map: Get a campus map and locate your classes before the semester starts.
Tour: Consider taking a campus tour.
7. Utilize Campus Resources +
Tutoring Center: Take note of tutoring services and academic support available: https://academicsupport.fullcoll.edu/tutoring-center/.
Library: Familiarize yourself with the library and its resources: https://library.fullcoll.edu/.
Health Services: Be aware of health services and counseling available to students: https://health.fullcoll.edu/.
8. Stay Informed +
Check Email: Regularly check your student email for important updates and information. E-mail address changes are done in myGateway. After you log into the myGateway system, click on the Update Information within the My Information widget. If you do not have access to myGateway, please complete the student information change form to place a new email on file.
Canvas: Get comfortable with the Canvas learning management system if your classes use it.

Clubs and Organizations: Explore clubs, student organizations, and extracurricular activities to get involved and meet new people.
Events: Attend campus events and workshops to enhance your college experience.
10. Plan Your Commute +
Transportation: Plan how you will get to campus, whether by car, public transportation, biking, or walking.
Transportation Fee: With the mandatory transportation fee that Fullerton College students pay each semester, you have unlimited access to the OC Bus (for school, work, shopping, the beach) during the current fall and spring semesters that you are currently enrolled. Visit the Fullerton College Pass Program for more information. For currently enrolled students at Fullerton College, bus passes will be automatically uploaded to your OC Bus App account on the first day of the semester.
Parking: Know where to park and give yourself extra time on the first few days.
11. Stay Organized +
Calendar: Keep a calendar or planner to track important dates and deadlines.
