Non-Resident Tuition Fee Waiver (Six or Fewer Units) FAQs

Students can apply to have nonresident tuition waived if they are taking no more than six units at Fullerton and Cypress College combined. This waiver is not available for students attending on an F/1 visa, and you must have a current California address to qualify. To apply, students must complete the “Non-Resident Tuition Fee Wavier (Six or Fewer Units)” form.
Q: What is the “Non-Resident Tuition Fee Waiver for 6 or fewer units” and who gets it? +
A: This is a waiver for the non-resident tuition and capital outlay fee for one term (semester). It is awarded to eligible non-resident students enrolled in six or fewer units at one or more colleges in the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD).

A: Complete and sign the “Non-Resident Tuition Fee Waiver for 6 or fewer units” form.
Q: Do I need to submit supporting documents with this form? +
A: No. However, in certain cases Admissions and Records may request additional documentation.

Q: Will the tuition fees that are waived be refunded if students drop their classes? +
A: No. The Non-Resident Tuition and Capital Outlay Fees that were waived will not be refunded to the student.
Q: What are the eligibility criteria? +
A: To be eligible for this waiver non-resident students need to meet all the criteria listed below:
- Physically reside in California and have a California address.
- Do not have a valid F1 visa, and/or active I-20.
- Are not currently a high school student.
- Have registered for 6 units or fewer at Fullerton and/or Cypress College and understand that students will be charged non-resident tuition for all classes, if they exceed 6 units.
Q: What is covered by this waiver? +
A: Students who are eligible will not be charged non-resident tuition and capital outlay fees for up to 6 units.
Q: What is not covered by this waiver? +
A: Enrollment fees (resident tuition) and other student fees are not covered.
Q: Who processes my tuition waiver to my account? +
A: Admissions and Records will review and process tuition waivers. A&R will contact students via their preferred email on file when their petition is processed.
Q: When can I apply for this waiver? +
A: Students must submit the petition every semester by the last day to add semester length courses.
Q: If my submission is denied, am I able to appeal? (Who do I contact to appeal in case my waiver is denied?) +
A: You can appeal to the Director of Admissions and Records.
Q: Do non-credit NOCE classes or classes from another college outside of NOCCCD district count toward the 6-unit limit? +
A: No, only Cypress College and Fullerton College classes count toward the 6-unit limit.
